Introducing Our Plans

Not to be confused with private medical insurance, MyRecoveryCheque plans provide budgets of money designed to alleviate the out of pocket costs of undergoing an operation or a medical procedure, whether the procedure is performed in the NHS or privately.

MyRecoveryCheque benefits are provided according to the normal expected recovery time of a medical procedure and have been based on research and consensus guidelines in conjunction with a UK based consultant-led independent provider of advice on occupational health.

In developing the product, the company has based its research on OPCS Classification of Interventions and Procedures. OPCS is a procedural classification for the coding of operations, procedures and interventions performed during in-patient stays, day case surgery and some out-patient attendances in the National Health Service (NHS).

All operations and medical procedures covered by MyRecoveryCheque are allocated into four classifications based on the normal expected recovery and return to light work as follows:

A. Recovery and return to light manual work in a few days
B. Recovery and return to light manual work in around two or three weeks
C. Recovery and return to light manual work in around one to two months
D. Prolonged recovery

Because of the unique 4 category approach, the company has been able to develop its own unique and proprietary Schedule of Procedures which lists all operations and medical procedures covered by MyRecoveryCheque and determines which benefits are payable for each procedure.

All recovery times are based on the expected return to work of a healthy adult who is motivated to return to work. Light manual work would involve lifting and handling only small items mostly weighing less than 1-2kg. It could also include production line work assembling small items, phone or computer repair work, handling small parcels and letters, and general administration including filing, use of computers and telephones, some shop work and driving. Workers who have varied roles would be expected to have some adjustments to avoid heavier manual work, reaching or stretching and could work mostly sitting rather than prolonged walking and standing.

MyRecoveryCheque therefore represents a unique approach which differs from traditional Hospital Cash Plans (which typically provide a small cash amount for each night’s stay in hospital) by providing benefits which reflect the normal recovery time for each procedure.

Not to be confused with private medical insurance, the plans can be offered to people who use either social or private healthcare.
